Tune in March 24 at 7 p.m. to mvblues.org for the next installment of the MVBS Virtual Concert Series featuring the guitar, piano, and vocal duo of Steve Quenneville and Dave Liddy, playing authentic and original stomps, boogie woogie, blues and ragtime. Liddy has played on several SAMMY award winning blues records and was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame in 2015. Quenneville, a notable blues singer and guitarist, is a founder of both the Moss Back Mule Band and SAMMY recipient, String Bee. Quenneville and Liddy's partnership began over 40 years ago and their shared musical taste can be heard in every tune.

Up next for the Mohawk Valley Blues Society Virtual Concert Series: versatile singer / keyboardist / guitarist/ accordionist and SAMMY Award winner Mark Nanni. Mark Nanni has been playing music for a living based out of Central New York for 25 years as a professional keyboardist for many bands on piano, organ and accordion, including Los Blancos, Jess Novak and Dark Hollow. The show will be carried on the MVBS website at mvblues.org at 7 p.m. A virtual tip jar will be provided and generosity is strongly encouraged since the artists are donating their time.

Mark your calendars: You don’t want to miss the next installment of the Mohawk Valley Blues Society Virtual Concert Series, featuring SAMMY Award nominees King Kool and his Royal Blues on Wednesday, February 10. Every facet of the blues is put on display by an all-star collection of some of Central New York’s most respected musicians, consisting of four of the founding members of the Justice McBride band and current members of the Allman Brothers tribute band Les Brers, Al, Dan and Mark Sisti and drummer Gene Voce. If you think the blues has to feel bad, then you never heard King Kool and his Royal Blues. Next up for the Mohawk Valley Blues Society Virtual Concert Series will be Jimmy Wolf, Wednesday January 27 at 7 p.m. (that’s tomorrow night.) Jimmy Wolf, a four-time Native American music award nominee and winner of best blues album in 2008 and best male artist in 2014, has toured with blues legends Larry Davis, Jimmy Dawkins and Bill Doggett before making the blues pilgrimage to Memphis, TN, where he lived and performed for five years. Now back in Central New York, Jimmy has built a large following with his Delta/Chicago blues, 50's rock and R&B repertoire. Next up in the Mohawk Valley Blues Society series of virtual concerts featuring the top Blues acts in upstate New York: The Brian Mulkerne Band on Wednesday January 13, presented on the Mohawk Valley Blues Society webpage at mvblues.org at 7:00 p.m. Brian Mulkerne is a guitarist and singer/songwriter who has performed throughout Central New York with The Brian Mulkerne Band, as well as in solo, duo, and other projects. Up until the live shows were shut down, Mulkerne was one of the hardest working musicians in the Utica area, bringing his blues/folk/Americana show to numerous events and venues, and now he’s anxious to bring this style into your living room. Colin Aberdeen is a bluesman based in Syracuse, NY and frontman for the genre-defying roots rockers Los Blancos. Colin has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. in his two decades of live performance and has earned a variety of awards in his career including repeat honors of favorite guitarist and vocalist in Blues Connection and Syracuse New Times. ATTENTION PLEASE: We at the Mohawk Valley Blues Society have reluctantly decided that our open jams will be suspended until further notice. While our current venue at Piggy Pat's Smoke and Ale House has allowed us to continue safely under their outside pavilion, with the onset of colder weather that's no longer feasible, and indoor shows aren't practicable with the current capacity limitations and the current guidelines. Accordingly, in an abundance of caution, we have voted to cancel the jams until further notice. As important as the jams are to us, the health of our MVBS members is more important, and we will not put anyone at risk. Keep in mind this move is temporary and we'll let you know when we're ready to resume; it'll give you time to work on your chops! Thank you for all your continued support and we hope to see you all soon.
